LLR's Division of Fire & Life Safety, South Carolina Fire Academy,
in cooperation with the US Department of Homeland Security, Office of
Domestic Preparedness, is pleased to announce nine FREE Fire Act Grant
workshops. The workshop is designed to assist the fire service with
applying for next years Fire Act Grants. Grant application timelines
have not been announced as of this date.
Registration for the workshops are limited and on a first-come, first-serve
basis. You may register by calling Cindy Brazell at 803-896-9871 or
via e-mail at brazelc@llr.sc.gov

NVFC Offers Scholarships for Junior Firefighters, Grants for
Departments
(Applications Due May 15)
The NVFC is offering $100,000 in scholarships and grants to junior
firefighters and their fire departments through its National Junior
Firefighter Program.
The application and criteria for the competitive scholarships will be
available on the NVFC web site
at www.nvfc.org/juniors
no later than April 1. The deadline for applications is May
15.

The South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association seeks applications
for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director manages
the functions of the 16,000 member organization through the administration
of a 1.5 million dollar budget under the limited supervision of an 11
member executive committee. The Association seeks a highly motivated,
self disciplined person to direct its wide ranging operation. Interested
persons may obtain further information and a position description at www.scfirefighters.org.

The Executive Committee of the South Carolina State Firefighters' Association
has accepted the resignation of its Executive Director, Jim Bowie, effective
September 26, 2007. During his over 30 years of dedication to the fire
service, Jim has been instrumental in many positive and progressive
developments for the benefit of everyone in South Carolina. The Executive
Committee, on behalf of its 16,000 members, thanks Jim for his service
and wish him well.
