The South Carolina Firefighters' Association is governed by elected officials
for a term of one year or until the next annual conference at which time the positions are re-opened for elections of new officers or the successors will take their appointed positions. These officers must meet the requirements of 1) Be a Regular Member of the Association in good standing, and 2) Be a registered firefighter in the state of South Carolina. The executive members are the officers that hold the position of:
- President
- First Vice President
- Second Vice President
- Third Vice President
- Fourth Vice President
In-turn the Executive Committee will then elect an Executive Director who will act as the CEO for the
Association, manage and conduct the affairs of the Association, employee and supervise staff members and approve all expenditures of the
Association. The Executive Committee will then appoint:
- General Counsel
- Accountant
- Medical Director
- Chaplain
Committees
The South Carolina Firefighters' Association currently has five different designated committee categories and one "other committees" category for general Ad-hoc committees and work groups appointed by the
President as necessity arises. These committees are:
- Executive Committee
- Standing Committees
- Training and Education
- Health and Safety
- Finance and Audit
- Member Benefits
- Strategic Planning
- Advisory
- Legislative
- Special Committees
- Emergency Medical Services
- Emergency Management
- State Supervisory Trustees
- Election Committee
- Other Committees
These committees consist of four to six members with the exception of the
Executive Committee with five members and the State Supervisory Trustees with only three members. The members of these committees have an appointment period of one year with exception to the one appointed member to the State Supervisory Trustees
Committee who has the appointment for three years.
